Bonus Beats: VIGILANTES and Tuka
Local hip hop boss Tuka has a fresh album, Life Death Time Eternal, his third, but first on a major label. He’s moved from heavy Sydney label Big Village to EMI, who oversee the Melbourne label Obese which his group Thundamentals release on. There’s definitely a strong commercial sensibility to it, and we see him fully embracing his singing, going the full White Boy Soul, something which he has been hinting at even from the early days of Rumpunch. It was showcased on his last album with his hooks on songs like ‘Die A Happy Man’ and ‘Alibi’, but this takes it to a whole ‘nother level. ‘Tattoo’
I’m keen to see if the whole album is sung, that would signal a massive shift, but he’s clearly exploring and growing which is always a great thing to see in an artist. Here’s the previous singles, ‘Nirvana’
and ‘Yeah Right’ – this actually my favourite of the three.
I flagged it in the last post, but I think you’ll agree that this single from underground pop artesans VIGILANTES was worth the wait. Electro Pop at it’s best.
Lets take a minute to appreciate how great these promo photos are… SRSLY
