AUDIO: Saskwatch – Don’t Wanna Try / Pushin’ Me Away
Saskwatch are a 9 piece soul explosion out of Melbourne who are apparently on a first name basis with Aretha Franklin and James Brown. Thats probably because their sound is up there with the likes of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings label house with influences all the way back to the roots of soul and big band ensembles. Its hard to believe this is a release in 2011 from our very own Melbourne. With a debut full length due to drop in 2012, the band are hinting at the full length with a few 7 inch releases. Hear the latest two A-sides in the blow stream, and if your in Melbourne, the epic funk/soul throwback outfit will be playing the 24th and 25th of November at the Workers Club to launch the record.
We say The Vaudeville Smash and Saskwatch come to Sydney for a double headliner? What do you say? Here’s hoping.
If you cant make the melbourne shows here a live video until the 9 piece swings your way.
